SOLD 1960s Set of Four Tulip Pedestal Side Chairs, Model 151C by Eero Saarinen for Knoll
This is a set of four Saarinen Pedestal Tulip Side Chairs, model 151C, designed by Eero Saarinen for Knoll International in 1957. The listed price includes the set of four. These are early production pieces, produced in the USA in the 1960s. One retains its original Knoll bowtie label, and they are branded underneath the aluminum bases BR51; indicative of authenticity for tulips manufactured during this period. Their design features a sculpted tulip-like base that is composed of powder-coated cast aluminum. Their shell is formed of molded fiberglass and they have fresh cushions that are done in a tomato-red hopsack material.
Each chair measures 21.25 inches deep, 20 inches wide, and 32 inches high. They have a seat height of 18.5 inches. The bases and shells are in good condition, but have not been refinished and therefore have an ecru hue to their finish. Overall, this set is in very good vintage condition with age apparent.
