1972 Tulip Chair, Armless Model 151C by Eero Saarinen for Knoll Aluminum, Fiberglass, Paint, Vinyl, Foam
This is a set of four Saarinen Tulip Pedestal side chairs, Model 150A, initially designed by Eero Saarinen for Knoll in 1956. These examples date to 1972. The listed price includes the set of four chairs. They each retain their original Knoll labels under their seats. Their design features a sculpted tulip-like base that is composed of powder-coated cast aluminum, and their shells are formed of molded fiberglass. They have upholstered cushions in navy blue vinyl.
Each chair measures 21.25 inches long, 20 inches wide, and 32 inches high. They have a seat height of 18.5 inches. We’ve intentionally left these chairs in their original condition. One chair has a crack on the back, where the back meets the seat. The other three are in nice condition. The seats are vinyl and original, though they would benefit from reupholstery. There are scuffs and scrapes throughout. Overall, these chairs are in good vintage condition. Please see photos.
