1970s Set of Four Armless Executive Pedestal Chairs by Eero Saarinen for Knoll in Blue Edelman Leather
This is a set of four Saarinen armless executive side chairs on pedestal bases, originally designed by Eero Saarinen for Knoll in 1950. These particular examples are circa 1971 production examples with newly done upholstery. The listed price includes the set of 4 chairs. Their design features a chromed-steel 4-star swivel base on glides, and the upholstery is done in a navy blue tumbled leather by Edelman Leather, which is very costly material. The chairs are marked Squibb and came from the Squibb pharmaceutical headquarters in NJ. The building was constructed in 1971 and designed by renowned architectural firm HOK, which would line up correctly with this spec of Saarinen chair.
Each chair measures 19 inches deep, 22.5 inches wide and 32 inches high. They have a seat height of 19 inches. The leather upholstery is in terrific condition as it was just re-done. The steel bases show some light scratches and scuffs from normal use. Overall, these chairs are in very good to excellent condition with light wear from use (really just to the bases). Please see photos. One or two of the glides were missing, however, we will make sure to send them with all glides present prior to shipping.
