1970s Rattan Barrel Chair for Comfort Designs Attributed to Adrian Pearsall in Cane and Fabric
This is a round rattan barrel lounge chair attributed to Adrian Pearsall for Comfort Designs in the 1970s. This design may have been part of Pearsall’s ‘Singapore Collection’. It was manufactured in Honduras, composed of baby rattan reeds woven over a welded-steel skeleton frame. The piece was upholstered & finished in the company’s facility in Kingston, Pennsylvania. The back cushion is tufted, and the seat has a thick pad, lending credence to Pearsall’s design objective with Comfort Designs.
This barrel chair measures 35.25 inches deep, 31 inches wide and 31.2 inches high. It is in its original condition, still retaining its velvet-like upholstery fabric. The fabric shows discoloration. The rattan shows some wear, and some loose reeds are present. The bottom rim shows some water stains. Overall, this chair is in very nice original condition. Please see photos.
