SOLD 1985 Pair of Prototype Richard Schultz Wooden Outdoor Lounge Chairs
Listed for sale is a pair of (sold together) Richard Schultz Wooden Outdoor Collection dining chair prototypes, dating to circa 1985. This is a marvelous and rare set. The frames are in very good shape with some light wear. These are prototypes, so they may show some characteristics that are not typical of manufactured furniture. For example, some joints may need re-gluing due to age. We will do our best to address this prior to shipping if desired. The chairs are constructed from woven wood strips with more robust frames. The seats have wooden slats. One example has a cushion over top. Both pieces have been inspected and cleaned. The chairs are being sold as a pair and thus the price listed is for both chairs.
These examples were acquired directly from Peter Schultz, the son of Richard Schultz and co-owner of Richard Schultz Design. He remained a hugely influential part of the company for decades until production rights were sold back to Knoll in 2012. Peter Schultz annotated a list of details for each piece listed. I am thus able to verify both the authenticity and accuracy of each piece's background. Please note, multiple prototypes are available from different Schultz designs.
