2000s Pair of Model 402 Chairs by Aino and Alvar Aalto for Artek in Birch and Dark Fabric
This is a pair of model 402 lounge ‘Ateljé’ chairs, designed by Aino and Alvar Aalto for Artek in 1933. This particular pair was born in the mid 2000s. These classic cantilever lounge chairs are formed of steam-bent Birch wood, and retain their original dark black/brown upholstery. The seat and back are padded for comfort. The chairs were originally purchased by an Ivy League institution and came from an office within the university.
The price listed includes both chairs shown (a pair). Each chair measures 30 inches tall, 24 inches wide, and 27.5 inches deep.
The seat height is 16.5 inches. The chairs are in fantastic shape, but remain used examples and may show signs of wear and use. Please see photos for accurate condition. The light soiling shown on one chair can likely be easily removed with professional cleaning. If desired, we can arrange this prior to shipping.
