1990s Mandarin Chair by Ettore Sottsass for Knoll Steel, Foam, Padding, Wood, Plastic
This is a Postmodern “Mandarin” armchair, initially designed by Ettore Sottsass for Knoll in 1986. These examples date to the 1990s, and the listed price includes one chair. We have two chairs available for purchase in this colorway. Their design features sculptural, tubular steel legs & arms, and an upholstered seat & back. These examples have glossy orange enamel details. It’s all about the arms on these chairs... unmistakably Sottsass.
Each chair measures 21 inches deep, 26 inches wide, and is 32 inches high. They have a seat height of 18 inches. Their enameled-steel arms show some scuffs to the surface, and the upholstery fabric shows very slight fading. There is a small stain on the fabric of one piece, and there is some light rust on the legs. Overall, these chairs are in solid vintage condition with some signs of use. Please see photos.
