SOLD 1946 LCW Chair by Ray and Charles Eames for Evans Products Walnut, Steel
This is a very early LCW Lounge Chair in Walnut, initially designed by Charles and Ray Eames in 1946. We can date this particular piece to 1946, established by its screw pattern and label. The chair retains its original Evans decal label. The walnut has developed a beautiful warm patina over the years, and the unusual grain pattern on the back of the chair is quite special. LCW is an acronym that stands for Lounge Height (L) Side Chair (C) on Wood (W) Base.
This chair measures 25 inches deep, 22 inches wide, and is 27.5 inches high. Its seat height is 15.5 inches. There is a small piece of veneer missing on the back, and there are some pen marks on the underside. The original screws show some patina as well. Overall, this chair is in very good condition with some signs of use. Please see photos.
