1959 Executive Office Group Desk by George Nelson for Herman Miller in Walnut and Chromed Steel
This is a modern walnut desk, designed by George Nelson for Herman Miller in 1952. This particular example dates to circa 1959. The piece was developed for the Executive Office Group series. The body of the desk is veneered walnut on all sides, and the legs are chromed-steel with slightly adjustable glides. The design is cantilevered on its left side, and has a case with 2 drawers on its right. It’s a clean, classic design that has remained perpetually relevant through the decades.
This handsome desk measures 53 inches wide, 29.5 inches deep, and is 28 inches high. The wood looks rich and has been well taken care of, and the chromed legs remain shiny. The piece is in very good condition, but is vintage and has the expected signs of wear and use.
