1946 DCW Chair by Ray and Charles Eames for Evans Products Company in Calico Ash
This is a pair of DCW Dining Chairs in Calico Ash, originally designed by Charles and Ray Eames in 1946. These are ultra-rare, early examples that were produced by the Evans Plywood Company. These came to us via the estate of a Cornell University professor in Ithaca, New York. One chair retains its original Evans label, which is the earliest label used aside from those used on pre-production models.
Each chair measures 20.5 inches deep, 19.5 inches wide, and 29 inches high. Their seat height is 18 inches. One chair does have some scratches on the front surface, and there is patina present on both pieces’ original screws and hardware on underside. There is some slight fading to the finish of the seats. Overall, this important pair is in good vintage condition with some signs of time. Please see photos.
