1991 Chip Chair by Carlo Mo for Tecno in Ebonized Oak and Enameled Steel
This is a Chip Chair, designed by Carlo Mo for Tecno in 1965. This particular example hails from 1991, when Tecno relaunched the design in a very limited quantity. This avant-garde lounge chair (based on West-African and Caribbean indigenous designs) was created from ebonized oak, and has an enameled steel base. It was manufactured in Italy, designed at the Tecno Design Center, a laboratory where Osvaldo Borsani developed and produced products with notable European designers of the time.
The chair measures 25.6 inches long, 6.5 inches wide, and 29.1 inches high. It has a seat height of 1.97 inches. This lounge chair is in very good to excellent condition with very light wear. Please see photos. It came from a notable estate in Rittenhouse Square in Philadelphia. The previous owners were collectors of numerous important art objects and furnishings from the 1980s and 1990s.
