2014 Architectural Model by Herzog & de Meuron of 215 Chrystie Street by Ian Schrager

Regular price $ 50,000

This is an original architectural model of 215 Chrystie Street, as designed by Pritzker Prize-winning Swiss architects Herzog & de Meuron. The executive architects of record are Beyer Blinder Belle, a prominent American architectural practice that frequently collaborates on high-profile cultural, academic, and hospitality projects with Herzog. Herzog is primarily based in Switzerland, and is not licensed to practice independently in certain U.S. jurisdictions. Both firms are known for their historic preservation, executive architecture, and master planning.

The building houses the corporate offices of The Ian Schrager Company, sharing the space with the luxury condominiums and the PUBLIC Hotel New York that the firm developed.

The model was built completely by hand, and likely took hundreds of hours to build. It was constructed with wood, and has a hand-painted facade. Landscaping elements are present as per the original design. It was presumably used as a model to show the client (Schrager), and then afterwards likely used to attract buyers, tenants and investors.

This piece measures 21 inches deep, 49 inches wide, and 87 inches high. There is a custom-made plinth upon which the model sits that is 24 inches high. The model remains in terrific shape, but would need some repairs to be perfect again. It is overall in good condition and is a very impressive piece to own. Please see photos.
