1990s Studio Craft Sculpted Cherry Wood Cradle / Bassinet after Sam Maloof
This is a Studio-crafted Cradle, created in the 1990s in the American Modern style. The wood worker is unknown, but this is a truly special piece that took a lot of time and love to execute. The design is very much in the vein of American woodworker Sam Maloof, but no signature or branding remains.
The body of the piece is made of Cherry Wood, a premium domestic hardwood often favored by the Amish for use on their cradles. The Cherry has a desirable reddish color, and it has a luxurious satiny grain. The piece has already developed a deep patina since its inception in the 1990s- increasing its value as a collectible, and now vintage, studio-made piece.
This piece measures 30.25 inches deep, 29.25 inches wide, and 40.75 inches high. The cradle is solid and is in smooth working condition. There is evidence of a professionally repaired crack when looking closely. Overall, this lovely cradle is in good condition. Please see photos.
