SOLD 1967 Vintage Breitling 809 Cosmonaute Restored By Mark Heist
Up for auction is an original Breitling 809 Cosmonaute, which has been immaculately serviced and restored by Mark and Theresa Heist of Horological Services. For those not familiar, they are the official vintage Breitling restoration and service specialists for North America. The cost of restoration, completed within the last few months was $1500. The documentation will be included along with the watch.
This particular example has reference number 1162605, identifying it as a 1967 example. The watch has an immaculate AOPA labeled Cosmonaute face with properly functioning luminous.
Horological Services completely disassembled the watch and fully serviced it. They also refinished the movement, replaced the mainspring, replaced the crowns, replaced the pushbuttons, replaced the crystal, replaced the hands, polished the casework, and completed various other tasks on the watch. All of this was done with new old stock OEM Breitling parts.
The result is an absolutely stunning and pristine Cosmonaute, which has not been worn once since its restoration. It comes with a proper vintage spec strap (identical to what would have come on the watch in the 60's). Also going with it is a Breitling case as shown with cleaning cloth.
It is refreshed and looking for a new home.
I have photos of the movement prior to being worked on by Horological Services, but did not want to open it for photography, as to make sure dust particles did not get in the freshly re-worked watch.
Feel free to let me know if you have any questions.
