1964 Herman Miller Eames Lounge Chair and Ottoman in Rosewood and White Leather 670/671
This is an original Eames Lounge Chair and Ottoman, model 670 and 671, designed by Charles and Ray Eames for Herman Miller in 1956. This set dates to 1964, per its label. The shells on this set are composed of Brazilian Rosewood, and the upholstery is in the original white leather. The finish on the wood panels was recently refreshed to highlight the grain of the rosewood. Both pieces have aluminum bases with polished aluminum top surfaces, and have matte black powder coated sides. This set is widely considered one of the most significant designs of the 20th century.
The lounge chair measures 33 inches long, 33 inches wide, and is 31.5 inches high. It has a seat height of 15 inches and an arm height of 19 inches. The ottoman measures 21.5 inches long, 26 inches wide, and is 17.25 inches high. There are some small scuffs and scratches on the bases, and some light wear to the edges of the veneer. The leather shows some wear and has age-related creasing on the seat. If so desired, we can have the cushions professionally re-sprayed so that the color is more consistent. Currently the cushions are completely original. Overall, this set is in very good vintage condition. Please see photos.
