1960s Set of Six Eero Saarinen for Knoll Tulip Dining Arm and Side Chairs
This is a set of four Saarinen Tulip Pedestal Swivel Chairs, initially designed by Eero Saarinen for Knoll in 1956. The set includes four side chairs and two arm chairs. These examples date to the 1960s. Their design features a sculpted tulip-like base that is composed of powder-coated cast aluminum, and their shells are formed of molded fiberglass. They have upholstered cushions done in a blue fabric. The listed price includes all six chairs to be sold together as a set. A matching Dining table with a laminate top (78 inch oval) from the same original owner is available separately.
The arm chairs measure 23.5 inches long, 26 inches wide, and 32 inches high with a seat height of 18 inches, and an arm height of 25.38 inches. The side chairs measure 21.25 inches long, 20 inches wide, and 32 inches high with a seat height of 18.5 inches. These pieces do show some wear consistent with previous use, including minor black marks on the chairs and small spots on the cushions. Overall, these chairs are in very good vintage condition.
