SOLD 1957 Set of 4 Herman Miller Eames DKR-2 Wire Dining Chairs and Contract Table
Listed for sale is a very rare and original Herman Miller dining set dating to 1957, designed by Charles and Ray Eames. This original set was purchased new from Herman Miller at the same time and with the original owner throughout the entirety of its life thus far. The DKR-2 dining chairs features early silver H bases, white enameled wire uppers and original blue naugahyde bikini pads. The dining table is an original 1st year production contract dining table, which was produced in 1957 in anticipation of the Eames aluminum group series (introduced in 1958). The set is in gorgeous original condition with some light wear as noted in the photos. The bikini pads look terrific overall, though do show some signs of wear with minor breaks in the stitching for example. The pads are perfectly usable and can be used/preserved without issue. The white laminate table is in gorgeous condition, showing normal light wear. As the tables are quite solid and resilient, it is remarkable how good the table looks especially. The top measures 36 inches in diameter and 28.75 inches tall. The chairs measure 32.5 inches tall.
These pieces came from the estate of a prominent arts patron in Chicago, who owned this set along with a number of other iconic modern furnishings. The set is guaranteed as original. The price listed includes all four chairs and the table.
