SOLD 1947 Rare Evans Plywood Herman Miller Eames LCM Lounge Chair Metal Legs in Birch
Listed for sale is an exceptionally rare Herman Miller Eames LCM (lounge chair with metal legs) designed by Ray and Charles Eames, produced by Evans Products Company for Herman Miller. The LCM was introduced alongside the all wooden version (the LCW) in 1946 and has become one of the most iconic designs of the 20th century. This example was produced shortly after that initial introduction period, circa 1947, which can be verified via a few details. The early Evans examples used solid stock and also had a circular connection to the shock mounts on the back. Furthermore, they used a screw-on foot glide, as opposed to the slip-on boot glides, which were used during the early 1950s. This example appears to be birch with a nice patina to the finish and also seems to have re-done shock mounts on the back, which will allow for continued life of the chair. Condition overall is very good for an example of this age. See photos for condition. If interested in a photo of the underside, please feel free to reach out.
The chair measures 27.5 inches tall by 22.5 inches wide and 23.5 inches deep.
