1936 Painting of Berlin by Gordon Bunshaft of Skidmore Owings and Merrill (SOM)
This is an original 1936 painting of Berlin by Gordon Bunshaft, the influential modernist architect best known for his work with Skidmore, Owings & Merrill (SOM). It is a rare and intimate artifact from Bunshaft’s personal archive—seldom seen outside institutional collections.
The painting came to us directly from the estate of Gordon and Nina Bunshaft and will be accompanied by a letter of provenance from the heirs.
The frame is 23.25 inches wide, 29.25 inches long, and .75 inches thick. The work shows expected signs of age, including minor surface wear, but remains in very good condition overall. Please see photos.
