SOLD Herman Miller Eames Lounge Chair and Ottoman Rosewood 1957
Listed for sale is a rare early example of a 1957 Herman Miller Eames lounge chair with ottoman. It is a black leather lounge and shows rich patina with wood in delightful condition.
The earliest examples had three holes in the armrest brackets for three screws. Within a short period of time, they decided only two were needed. This example shows three holes in the arm brackets, dating it to the first generation.
Along with this, the chair features early round steel clips and down filled leather cushions.
Cushions:
They are soft and properly plump for a chair of this vintage. The seat cushion, which can be exchanged with the ottoman is much more heavily worn than the others as is noted in photos, but not torn. No tears or rips are present on any of the cushions.
Wood:
The rosewood shells are in great shape with minimal wear noted. The finish is lovely.
Shock Mounts:
The shock mounts were freshly and professionally re-done by Herman Miller, meaning that this set will provide decades of service onward!
Bases and Metal
The aluminum bases are in great condition. Paint is all there.
