SOLD 1956 Set of 4 Herman Miller Eames DKR-1 Wire Dining Chairs w/ Blue Bikini Pads
Listed for sale is a vintage set of four Eames DKR-1 wire dining chairs with blue bikini pads, produced circa 1956. The DKR was designed by Charles and Ray Eames, produced by Herman Miller. The black wire bases and seats are all in very good condition for their age and are structurally sound. The vinyl (naugahyde) bikini pads show a nice patina with sought after and original horsehair backs. These early examples feature both the horsehair backs and early Venice, California production labels. The pads show signs of wear and use, though present very nicely. With reference to the color, these are a dark navy blue. While the color is clearer in the main two images, the color is more vibrant in person and reads as a pleasant dark blue.
In addition to these four, there is an additional pair of DKR-1 dining chairs with orange bikini pads (sold separately). The six chairs came from the same estate.
