1947 Pair of Evans Eames LCW Chairs with Birch Seat and Ebonized Ash Legs 5-2-5
This is a pair of LCW Lounge Chairs, initially designed by Charles and Ray Eames in 1947. The listed price includes the pair of chairs as shown. They are early examples, dating to circa 1947. They were produced by Evans Products Company and feature the 5-2-5 screw pattern. They retain their Evans tags. The chairs are composed of bent plywood components, having ebonized-ash legs and birch seats and backs. Their age has truly only contributed to their beauty. The finish has become smooth from use producing a satiny sheen. The wood has taken on a warm tone, and the flowing grain of the wood has become more distinguished.
Each chair measures 25.25 inches deep, 20 inches wide, and 26.5 inches high. They have a seat height of 15.38 inches. We have intentionally left these pieces in their original condition to showcase their history. There are several small scratches and rubs on the seats and the legs, and the hardware under one of the legs was painted over at some point. Overall, this truly scarce pair of LCW chairs is in very good condition. Please see photos.
