1945 Eames Evans Experimental Molded Plywood Coffee Table
Listed for sale is a very rare and early Evans plywood coffee table, produced by Evans Molded Plywood Division and designed by and with Charles and Ray Eames.
Two or so of these tables have surfaced to market in recent years, notably at Wright Auctions in Chicago. One example came from the renowned Boyd Collection as well. According to the research of Wright Auctions:
"This table top is part of a series of experimental plywood designs that Eames developed alongside Evans Molded Plywood Division. The table base is not directly linked to Eames, however the table top is a known form resulting from these early trials."
This particular example is stamped EVANS onto the back of the plywood top. Condition overall is very good to excellent. It shows some light wear and nice patina. See photos.
