

1970s De Stijl 'Schroeder 1' Side Table Designed by Gerrit Rietveld for Cassina
This is Schroeder 1 side table, initially designed by Gerrit Rietveld in 1923. The piece was manufactured by Cassina in the 1970’s, and is appropriately marked as such. It was produced for a limited time and exhibits the incised number of 967, making this an early production piece. It is composed of lacquered wood in geometric cubist form, utilizing primary colors while incorporating shades of black and white.
This piece measures 20 inches in width, 24 inches in height and 20 inches in depth.
This piece is structurally sound but shows some signs of wear on the top. Overall, it is in terrific condition.
This particular design is considered one of the foremost examples of Neoplasticism promoted by the Dutch De Stijl movement, of which Rietveld was a member.
