1980s Afra and Tobia Scarpa for Knoll Bastiano Three Seat Sofa Walnut w/ Tweed
This is a ‘Bastiano’ Three Seat Sofa, initially designed by Afra and Tobia Scarpa for Gavina in 1962. This 1980s example was produced by Knoll. The design features a chunky Walnut frame, and it retains its original tweed fabric upholstery. Afra and Tobia, a husband & wife design team, collaborated on several important designs throughout their careers. The Bastiano is one of the most recognizable of their designs.
This sofa measures 30.25 inches deep, 83.5 inches wide, and is 29.25 inches high. It has a seat height of 16.25 inches. There appears to be one spot on the fabric that was repaired, and there is a small stain on one cushion. There is also some minor discoloration on the fabric. The Walnut frame is in great shape with minor scuffs and scratches. Overall, this sofa is in good condition. Please see photos.
