1970s Giancarlo Piretti for Anonima Castelli Pluvium Umbrella Stand in White
This is a Plastic ‘Pluvium’ Umbrella Stand and Organizer, designed by Giancarlo Piretti for Anonima Castelli in Italy in the 1970s. The piece was intended to hold six umbrellas when the stand is folded up, and it can fan out to offer more space. The design is a terrific example of the many innovative, hard plastic lifestyle pieces that were coming out of Italy in the 70’s.
This stand measures 11.25 diameter, and it measures 19.5 inches tall. The piece moves freely as designed and the hinges are in good shape. There is some light yellowing to the off-white plastic when looking closely. Overall, this piece is in good condition. Please see photos.
