SOLD 1960's Herman Miller Eames Lounge Chair & Ottoman Rosewood 670 671
Listed for sale is an original vintage Herman Miller Eames lounge chair and ottoman. The set is in excellent condition and has beautiful brazillian rosewood panels combined with supple Herman Miller cushions. The Herman Miller label is still present on the chair and is the black, rectangular label. The chair appears to be from the transitional phase between use of round clips (characteristic of earlier chairs from 1956-late 1960's) and use of rectangular clips (characteristic of chairs from approximately 1971 onward). This chair has cushions with partially down and partially foam fillings, which is again representative of this transitionary period. The cushions are in fabulous shape.
Cushions:
They are soft and properly plump for a chair of this vintage. The seat cushion and ottoman are both in remarkably great shape. No tears or rips are present on any of the cushions.
Wood:
The rosewood shells are in excellent condition. As can be noted in the photos, there appears to have been a small veneer repair beneath the armrests (which is effectively invisible even up close). It does not affect the chair at all structurally.
Shock Mounts:
The shock mounts are in great shape and the chair still holds strong. The seat shock mounts are new.
Bases and Metal
The aluminum bases are in great condition. The feet move nicely, paint is all there, and aluminum looks great.
