1976 Set of Three Arne Jacobsen Fritz Hansen 3123 Children's Chairs in Veneer
This is a Set of Three Children’s ‘Hammer Chairs’, Model 3123, initially designed by Arne Jacobsen for Fritz Hansen in 1955. This particular set dates to 1976. The 3123 was initially released as part of Denmark’s school furniture program, ergonomically designed to teach proper sitting form. Two of the chairs have seats that are made with molded birch veneer, and one chair has what we believe is walnut veneer. They all have black enameled stainless-steel legs.
Each chair measures 13.5 inches deep, 13.5 inches wide, and 24.5 inches high. There are some water marks on the seats, and some chips to the coating on the legs. The wood on all three chairs has a lovely patina, and the birch chairs play off of the walnut chair beautifully. Overall, this set is in good condition. Please see photos.
