1970s Nicos Zographos CH.72TC Desk Chair in Cognac Leather w/ Bucket Seat Design
This is an Alpha Bucket Swivel Desk Chair, Model CH.72TC, initially designed by Nicos Zographos in 1964. This example dates to the 1970s. The design includes a polished-steel 4-star swivel base on casters, and the chair is also height adjustable. The cognac brown upholstery on the piece was completed by CBG Associates; Interestingly, Zographos enlisted upholstery shops in and around NYC to execute the upholstery on many of his creations. Zographos was known for utilizing materials of only the highest quality, and the caliber of the workmanship in this piece is outstanding.
This chair measures 29 inches deep, 25 inches wide, and 30 inches high with a seat height of 18 inches. The piece does show some wear consistent with previous use, including some blemishes on the upholstery and some light scratches on the base. Overall, this chair is in very good condition.
