1962 Pair of Herman Miller Eames DAR Fiberglass Arm Shell Dining Chairs White
This is a pair of DAR “Eiffel” Armchairs in Parchment, initially designed by Ray and Charles Eames in 1949. This pair dates to ca. 1962. Each piece has threaded feet and an original Eiffel tower base in zinc-plated steel. The abbreviated Eames DAR Chair stood for the Eames Dining (D) height, Arm (A) Chair, on Rod (R) Base.
Each chair measures 24 inches deep, 24.875 inches wide, and 31.5 inches high. The seat height is 17.875 inches, and the arm height is 27 inches. There is a slight difference in sun discoloration between the two, and both pieces retain their original feet. They both also retain their labels underneath the seats. We have intentionally left this important pair in their original condition to showcase their history. There is some patina on the zinc/steel frames, and the fiberglass shows wear. Overall, these chairs are in very good condition. Please see photos.
