SOLD 1988 Knoll Bridge Armchair by Ettore Sottsass for Knoll in Maple with Fabric Upholstery
This is an original ‘Bridge’ armchair, designed by Ettore Sottsass for Knoll Studio in 1988. The chair is formed of solid maple wood and has an upholstered seat and back. Production for this model was limited, and this was acquired directly from a Knoll executive. The chair’s silhouette is clearly informed by the earlier Constructivist and Secessionist design movements, two tropes which are commonly reflected in Sottsass’ Memphis style.
The chair measures 32 inches high, 22 inches wide and 22 inches deep. The seat height is 18.5 inches. The upholstery is original to the piece. The chair is in terrific condition, showing only small signs of time and use. Please see photos.
