SOLD Authentic George Nakashima 6' Settee Early 60's. New Cushions by Nakashima Upholsterer
Listed for sale is an authentic and early 6' settee by George Nakashima. The settee is black walnut and was purchased from the studio showroom in the early 1960's, believed to be 1963, possibly earlier. This settee was purchased from the granddaughter of the original owner. The settee is in marvelous condition and cushions are new and upholstered in a lovely oatmeal knoll fabric. The black walnut has been maintained as recommended by the Nakashima studio throughout its life and shows a lovely patina in the black walnut, showing its age and rich darkening over time.
Cushions
The cushions are brand new. They were done by the upholster that has made these cushions for the Nakashima studio for decades. After speaking with the studio about it, they came highly recommended and the fabric was chosen with respect to the walnut in order to be neutral while complementing the wood.
