1939 Johnson Furniture Co. Bookshelf by Saarinen, Swanson, & Saarinen Swanson
This is a Birch Bookcase, designed by Eliel Saarinen, J. Robert Swanson, and Pipsan Saarinen Swanson for Johnson Furniture Co. in 1939. The sleek plinth base is stained a darker hue of brown. The two inset shelves are deeper than the case, and protrude slightly, lending interest to an otherwise simple design.
The bookcase measures 11.5 inches deep, 23.88 inches wide, and 30.13 inches high. There is some slight veneer damage, and there are a few marks on the inside of the shelves. Overall, this original piece is in good condition. Please see photos.
