These are CH6 Alpha Bucket Swivel Chairs, initially designed by Nicos Zographos in 1964. These examples date to the 1980s. Their design includes a dark bronze 4-star swivel base on castors, and these examples feature black leather upholstery. Zographos was known for utilizing materials of only the highest quality, and the caliber of the workmanship in his pieces is outstanding. The listed price includes one chair and there are two available to purchase.

These chairs came from the headquarters of CIGNA, formerly Connecticut General Life Insurance Company in Connecticut, a building designed by Gordon Bunshaft of Skidmore, Owings, and Merrill Architects. While the original building was completed in 1957, this example dates to circa 1980s after the a merger in 1982 forming the company CIGNA (see label on underside of chair). Zographos was a favorite of SOM when specifying pieces for interiors. It is likely that this was specified as part of a renovation by SOM. The firm did renovations to the building in 1971 and presumably more renovations in the years following.

Each chair measures 29 inches deep, 25 inches wide, and 30 inches high with a seat height of 18 inches. These pieces do show wear consistent with previous use. Overall, they are in good to very good vintaged condition. Please see photos.
