This is a Slat Bench, Model 4992, originally designed by George Nelson for Herman Miller in 1947. This particular example dates to the 1950s. The bench is comprised entirely of maple, and this piece is fully ebonized. This is one of Nelson's most iconic designs.

The bench measures 18.75 inches long, 56.5 inches wide, and 14.25 inches high. We have left this bench in its original condition to showcase its history. It does show some wear consistent with previous use, and can be refinished upon request. Overall, this piece is in good vintage condition. Please see photos.
